Each year 112,000 babies, children and teens rely on Providence Children’s Health for compassionate care, hope and healing. Some arrive as premature babies. Some have chronic conditions or challenges. Some are healthy but are affected by the medical conditions of family members. When children are involved, illness and injury affect entire families. Thanks to generous donors, we help families navigate the twists and turns in each child’s health care journey with programs including:
Swindells Resource Center
Learning that your child has special needs, developmental delays or disabilities is life changing, isolating and scary. Swindells Resource Center supports parents and caregivers of these children by providing peer-to-peer support, free resources and information and education to communities throughout Oregon and southwest Washington. Providence cares for more children with special health care needs than any other health system in Oregon.
Neonatal Intensive Care Units
When a baby is born early or requires special care, they are treated in the on-site NICU where generous donations ensure state-of-the-art equipment is available to babies in need. Newborn patients are cared for by a full NICU team, including their primary physician, specialty physicians as needed, an occupational therapist/physical therapist, a social worker and discharge planner, and a primary bedside nurse.
Safety Net Fund for Families
The Providence Safety Net Fund for Families addresses unmet needs of families receiving care in our women’s clinics, family practices and pediatric specialty clinics. The fund provides underserved and at-risk pregnant people with temporary rental assistance, prenatal vitamins, diabetes supplies, car repairs, transportation vouchers and other needed items and services not covered by insurance.
Children’s Development Institute
Children are referred to our program to help identify and respond to developmental concerns. These concerns can begin at any time during a child’s development and can include difficulties with daily activities, social skills, communication, mobility or learning. Our multidisciplinary teams collaborate to create personalized treatment programs designed to help each child and family reach their goals.
Thank you for your unwavering support of Providence Children's Health.
